100% of public donations go directly into our programming funds.
How does it work?
There are several different types of expenses that we incur beyond those related to fulfilling our mission.
Financial Transactions:
When someone donates $100 online, we are charged about 2.9% + $0.20 in transaction fees by our payment processor. When this happens, our Silo Team fund pays that $3.10 fee. This leaves the full $100 to go toward the things that matter most to the donor.
Administration:
We are currently able to operate without any paid staff thanks to our great volunteers that are generous with their time. However, there are still a number of costs (accounting, legal, website, fundraising, etc) that are required to keep things running. Thanks to multi-year commitments to The Silo, we have the ability to confidently go forward knowing all of these costs will be fully covered.
What about our charity partners?
Sometimes the most effective use of resources is to directly fund initiatives through other established charities. In these instances, we seek to fund the organization in a way that minimizes any financial transaction costs. However, it is very likely our partner charities will need to use a portion of all funds received to cover administrative expenses.
